Palawan’s Dying Tribe

Palawan is very dear to my heart for many reasons. I visit Palawan very often but this trip was the most meaningful so far. I got involved into a gift giving to the Batac and Tagbanua tribes in Concepcion, Palawan together with Kinderworld Academy and Mrs Rojo of MALAMPAYA Foundation.

Palawan has indeed a lot to offer not only to those who are looking for adventure but also to those who have a heart for extending themselves to our brethren who are in need.

A good trivia about this is that the presence of our Batac brothers are only found in Palawan. I learned that in Concepcion, there are only 59 of them. For this reason, this makes them one of the dying tribes not only in the Philippines but also in the whole world. They die because of Malaria and other tropical diseases. Well, Malaria is fatal. I suffered from it twice. Good thing I’m still alive. The campaign for their healthcare needs to be emphasised not only by NGOs but also the government as well.

Thank you to cheap airfare, I got a chance to buy many trips from Manila to Palawan. I was able to secure 3 roundtrip tickets for only P1,200.00 (that will be P200.00 for a one-way trip). I hope Air Asia will give another promo like this.

I will be back this 6th of March to give rice grains to them. Simple yet so precious for each family for they rarely eat rice. Anybody who is willing to join me is welcome. 🙂 Let me know thru this blog if you want to support by giving any in kind or cash for them. For those who are willing to give monetary support, the money will be used to buy rice. That’s their request. 🙂
