A country divided by the sea and mountain ridges offer us surprises and happiness that we would not expect to find in the corners of the forest. A trip worth remembering to the Aetas in Bamban, Tarlac.
It was 30th of November 2014 when I joined a team of doctors, nurses, pastors, and volunteers of Solid Rock Ministries to do a medical mission to the Aetas in a small community in Bamban, Tarlac. Well, this is one of the activities that I love the most. Going to communities that are in need of something. And this time, they need medical help. Im not a doctor, so I would not dare do some check-up sort of thing. I joined because I felt that I have to.
We left Manila at around 5 am. Im not really familiar with the place so I was just a passenger that time. It was around 8 am when we arrived. No time to waste so we set-up our things immediately.
The program started with a prayer by the pastors in the place followed by a message of salvation in Christ Jesus. Then the dental and medical mission started. A dentist was there to remove decaying teeth, doctors—mostly paediatricians and a pulmonologist to check them up. Another team of volunteers were inside a classroom giving some clothes, canned goods, noodles, toothpastes, and other items that are useful to them.
